Currach Race

The events at Irish Fest this weekend included races on the lagoon in traditional Currach boats. Seeing the teams row across the lagoon with the sailboats on the other side of the peninsula was a little disorienting.

One More Cast

Back from our annual trip to the North Woods, and I brought home a postcard... A fisherman on the lake tries to stretch out the last moments of daylight. It was good to get away for a few days and just relax.

Wooly

In the Discovery Barn at the fair, kids can get up close to the agriculture industry and see some animals a little closer to their size. These lambs were just one example of the new and recently born babies on display.

Bunny Barn

It's Fair Week, so we ventured out to the State Fair to check out the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes of this year's edition. A stop at the Rabbit and Poultry barn was on our schedule, and it's interesting to see all the variety of animals there. These rabbits, apparently disguised as dairy cattle, caught our eye.

Thunderbirds

The Air and Water Show was at the Lakefront this weekend, and the Air Force Thunderbirds were the feature act, showing their talent at high speed and low altitude. It is always incredible to think that we've gone from the Wright Brothers to this in such a short period of time.

Busy

With June's rains and July's heat behind us, the gardens are going strong. The bees have been harvesting pollen and nectar, like this one patrolling the cone flowers.

Songbird

Robin Pluer is fun to listen to when she's singing on stage, and even more fun to watch. Performing French cabaret standards and sometimes delving into more contemporary R&B, she's always on the go and getting you to join in. She'll be at Bayshore Town Center in nearby Glendale.

August Theme Day - Postcard Worthy

The August Theme Day is Postcard Worthy

Taking advantage of the Theme Day to show off some photographs I don't normally get a chance to share. Today's photo was taken on vacation in March, when we stopped in Jerome, Arizona, on the way to Sedona. The view is looking from Jerome, I believe to the northeast. The deep blue of the sky contrasting with the reds and yellows of the stone and the high cirrus clouds make for a postcard-perfect panorama.
