Arctic Tailgate

Single-game tickets for the Brewers went on sale today, and the team celebrated the event with the annual Arctic Tailgate. The first 1500 people who showed up (some of them were in line as early as Wednesday) received a t-shirt, hot dog, and soda. In addition, free coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts were served to those waiting in line.

Yellow

Winter's starting to wear on me, so I was looking through some photos and decided this was a good diversion for today. A few more weeks and the snow will be gone, the plants will be greening up... I hope!

Buell

Erik Buell opened a small motorcycle shop in the 80's after leaving Harley-Davidson, and started building his own racing bikes, powered by H-D motors (like the one in today's photo). In 1998, Harley took a majority interest in the company, and closed the Buell factory a couple years ago. Erik has since opened a new shop and recently started selling racers again.

Today's Photo is a section of the Martin Levine etching/aquatint titled "Milwaukee River". The print is very detailed in its study of the area around the Marcus Center, Wisconsin Center, and City Hall.

More To Come

While most of the recent snow in today's photo has melted, there's more on the way for tomorrow. I was hoping we could put winter behind us, but it looks like we'll be facing reality for a while longer.

Pre-Game

Part of a high school hockey game is a pre-game meeting with the coaches, captains, and officials. Tonight, the Marquette University High School Hilltoppers played the Whitefish Bay - Nicolet - Shorewood Storm in a playoff game at Eble Park in Waukesha. Marquette won the game 2-1 in double overtime.

Figure Skaters practice their moves on the Lake Park rink, located near the tennis courts. The ice was in really good condition when I was there, and I wished I had brought my skates with me.

The blizzard last night left some rather large drifts, like this one in front of the door to the garage. Three hours of cleanup, and things are somewhat back to normal.

February Theme Day - Fountains

The February Theme Day is Fountains

Well, we're sitting here waiting for the worst blizzard in 12 years, and I'm writing about fountains. This one is at Catalano Square in the Third Ward, at the intersection of Broadway and Menomonee Streets. A nice place to hang out in the summer and take a break in the shade of the large trees.
