It's been chilly this week, but at least the sun has been out. This gull was down on the Riverwalk catching some rays and staying warm.

Boys Are Back

The Brewers regular season starts tomorrow, with the Casey McGehee (above, about two weeks ago) and the 'Crew on the road in Cincinnati. It looks like the high will be in the 40's, so the warmth of Spring Training will disappear in a hurry.

The roof of the St Joan of Arc chapel at Marquette University. The stone shingles and wavy roof make for great texture and shading.

Bags Bash II

The second Brew City Bags Bash will be held April 15-17 at the Pettit Ice Center. Teams and individuals will be playing for prizes and a chance to play in a world tournament.

Part of the ephemera on display at the Harley museum is this program from the Milwaukee Motordrome boardtrack races on July 11, 1914. It's a great piece of artwork and an interesting historical artifact.

Squad 6

Milwaukee Bucks player Andrew Bogut has been providing 100 tickets per game to some of the loudest, zaniest fans in the NBA. Known as Squad 6, the fans must try out to become part of the section, and once selected, need to attend every game to keep their spot.

Return Trip

New Belgium Brewing has announced the dates for the 2011 Tour de Fat, and they'll be bringing their circus of cycles back to town on July 30th. Keep an eye out for the location announcement, and make some time to attend!

Under Roof

The roofs at the West Allis Public Market keep vendors and shoppers dry in the rain, and shaded in the summer. I loved the repeating patterns in the tiles.

King and I

The bar area at The King and I Restaurant has a beautiful stained glass light and decorative metal ceiling. I didn't notice it in detail until I was leaving after dinner tonight, but I was glad I saw it on the way out. The food was very good, and our dinner party had a great time. Judging from the number of people that were there, it's quite a popular place.

On the Marquette campus, these brick and stone markers stand in the median on Wisconsin Avenue. Reflecting the design of the cathedral spire, they grab your attention with their size and detail.

Greening Up

I wish I had taken this photo today, but the day will come soon enough when the leaves will be out in full again. The snow has almost completely melted, the buds are starting to come out, and the birds are singing from dawn to dusk. Like the t-shirt says, Life is Good.

Takashi Saito was the starting pitcher at Sunday's game in Maryvale. It was reported earlier in the day that he had declined the starting role to tend to family issues in his native Japan, and I was surprised when he took the mound for the opening throws.

March 15 - Bowman

Michael Bowman, a pitcher for the AA Huntsville Stars minor league team, gets some reps in at the training facility.

March 14 - Hop To It

One of the Brewers catching prospects works on a speed drill, catching a ball out of the pitching machine and then hopping to his feet.

March 13 - Money and Al

Another round of catch-up, now that we're back from our Spring Training trip.

The blockbuster deal of the off-season for the Brewers brought Zack Greinke to the team from Kansas City, but they had to give up a number of prospects to get him. When we saw the Brewers play the Royals this past Sunday, Alcides Escobar stopped by the Brewers dugout on his way off the field between innings and renewed some old acquaintances, including this conversation with Don Money.

Pink Jeep

Getting out to the beauty spots in Sedona is not easy, but it can be fun. We took a ride with the folks at Pink Jeep Tours, and had a great time.

March 11: Sedona

The movie "The Bucket List" revolves around a theme of seeing something truly majestic in your lifetime. After spending some time in and around Sedona, I'm pretty sure this qualifies.

Today found us in Sedona, Arizona, far from cold and wet of home. Cathedral Rock is one of the many red rock formations around Sedona, and we found a good place to take a few photos.

March 9: Solidarity

In Jerome, Arizona, I found this sign in a shop window. Given the events of the week in Wisconsin, it seems like things are headed toward an end, but that end won't be final for some time.

March 8: Practice

Stopping for breakfast in Scottsdale this morning, I noticed that our restaurant was adjacent to an ice rink. Being the rink rat that I am, I stopped in to check out the facility, and found the Vancouver Canucks working out prior to Tuesday night's game against the Phoenix Coyotes.

March 7: Recombobulation

MKEDP is on the road this week, and that's part of the reason for the brief hiatus. Don't worry, today is catch-up day!

Leaving the security area after removing your shoes, belt, metallic items, cell phone, wallet, and whatever else the TSA has deemed inappropriate this week, you feel a little discombobulated. Fortunately, the area just past security in the D concourse at Mitchell International has a Recombobulation area! Just take a moment, put yourself back together, and be on your way.

...and if anyone sees the girl on our flight with the broken toes who managed to dump water on my laptop while trying to sketch, let her know that everything seems to have turned out ok (so far).

Sure Hands

Packers Wide Receiver James Jones catches a ball as part of a contest at the Bradley Center last night. Fellow wideout Jordy Nelson and linebacker Desmond Bishop were also at the game and the three players signed autographs and posed for pictures with fans.

The Admirals had a chuck-a-puck contest between periods of tonight's game, and thousands of orange foam rubber pucks flew from the stands on to the tarp at center ice for the chance to win a special prize package. Two pucks found the blue center dot, but one was just a little closer to dead center than the other. Once it was over, things were quickly cleaned up so the Zambonis could go to work.

Cinco the Chorizo played bags (also known as cornhole) against fans last weekend. If you beat him, you won a bobblehead. He had a good arm for playing in that outfit, but his handlers made sure that he got beat almost every time.

March Theme Day: Favorite Part of Town

The March Theme Day is Favorite Part of Town

The lakefront is my favorite part of Milwaukee. Ever changing, and always entertaining, it's a place to get away from it all, yet close enough to be in the middle of everything.
