Its range includes most of North America, so it's fairly common to see Great Blue Herons around. They can be found near almost any pond or waterway around town at one time or another. However, their sheer size almost always gets your attention, especially when they're in flight. It's fun to watch them hunting for a meal, stalking very slowly or completely frozen in place.
