Orange Iron

Founded in the latter half of the 19th Century, and manufacturing its first farm tractor around 1914, the Allis Chalmers Manufacturing Company operated in the Milwaukee area through 1999. This model CA tractor was built in the West Allis plant some time between 1950 and 1958, and its distinctive orange paint makes it identifiable from a great distance. My grandfather worked at the plant, and I smile every time I see one of these pieces of local history.
