Founded in 1891 as an organization to promote German-American fellowship, the Deutscher Club eventually found a home at the former Mitchell residence on Wisconsin Avenue, and became the Wisconsin Club. The building above is called a Belvedere, and was constructed to give Alexander Mitchell a place to sit and view the gardens on his property.
