This past weekend, the Vetter Denk building at the corner of 1st and Pittsburgh was host to a 30th anniversary retrospective of the Surfin' Turf skatepark, featuring photgraphs by Peter DiAntoni. As a teenager in the early 80's, I remember visiting the park once, but I didn't skate there. Living out in the far suburbs, we had to skate on whatever flat blacktop we could find. Seeing the beautiful concrete bowls and half-pipes and the talent of the skaters in the park was certainly something to behold.
