These alarm boxes are all around my neighborhood, but I have no idea if they work. Some quick googling indicates that they are probably telegraph-based, but I suspect that the infrastructure no longer exists. This side of the box reads "Patented Dec 28 1915, Fire And Police Alarm Post Co., Milwaukee, Wis.", and has "1925" in the center of the seal.
