Today's the first day of the last home stand for the Brewers. While I'm excited at the possibility of the team making the playoffs, I'm also a realist, and don't expect them to, given the circumstances they have to overcome. Who the hell ever thought we'd be rooting FOR the Cubs against the Mets? I was over near Wood Memorial Cemetery last week, and came across this sign, probably posted when County Stadium was young. Back then, the patients at the VA could sit on the hill above the stadium and watch the games being played there. I don't know if this was to discourage people from parking here and watching from the hill, or if it was just for traffic control.

I think it's probably more to do with not allowing people free access to the game. I mean, those sporting events hardly scrape by (sarcasm) that it would be a crime to let a VA patient view a game without paying hand over fist!
Can you still get a ticket and towed if you can barely read the sign?
Since the staduim was torn down (and Miller Park replaced it), the VA patients can no longer see the games. It's also fairly inconvenient to get from this spot to Miller Park, so I don't think it's a matter of parking control anymore.
Re the VA, Jeff Suppan of the Brewers has done a lot of work to get current soldiers and sailors free tickets. Google "Soup's Troops", and you'll find some info.
